I couldn’t let Summer slip by without visiting Falling Water Falls along Richland Creek in Sand Gap, AR. It was about a 3 hour drive from home, but totally worth it. This waterfall swimming hole is as dreamy a spot as they come!
Even in the August drought we’ve been having, the falls were still running and the pool below was deep enough to jump from the top of the falls (which I did!) Perfect Summer day!
At the junction of Scenic 7 Byway and Ark.16 at Pelsor, turn east on Ark. 16 and drive about 9 miles to Ben Hur, then go south about 1.5-miles until you reach Upper Falling Water Road (there’s a sign). Turn east on this road and remain on it for approximately 3 to 4 miles. You’ll be following Falling Water Creek and will come upon the falls to your right. There’s a long row of huge boulders against the right side of the road where you’ll be parking. There’s NO HIKE to the falls, you’ll be able to see it from the road. There’s a few different paths to scramble down to the bottom.
*If you continue past the falls for about 7 miles, you’ll run into Richland Creek Campground where you’ll find another cool swimming hole as well!
