Ha Ha Tonka State Park in Camdenton, MO

In Late September of this year we made a trip to Ha Ha Tonka State Park which is located in¬†Camdenton, Missouri on the Lake of the Ozarks. I had really been wanting to see this place!¬†Ha Ha Tonka’s most notable feature is the castle ruins. These ruins are actually what’s left of an early 1900’s mansion which was nicknamed the “castle” because it was modeled after European castles of the 1500’s. It was used as a hotel until it was destroyed by a fire in 1942.
It was about a 3 hour drive for us so we drove there on a Saturday night and stayed at a local hotel in Camdenton and then explored the park all day before returning late aftertoon on Sunday. This worked out perfectly since I knew the kids would be much happier splitting up the 6 hour drive into two days.
For more info about the park, see bottom of post
